Whatever you do for a career you will often go through periods of feeling unhappy and negative about your role. Often jobs are full of both negative aspects and positive aspects. Working in IT has lots of plus points as well as some drawbacks. There are plenty of good points to working in IT, some of which will be discussed below.

One of the biggest perks is that you will meet lots of people. Due to the amount of problems that people generally experience on a day to day basis you will quickly become familiar with the users in the business you work in.

The average salary for those working in IT is usually fairly hefty, compared to other industries the IT sector pays very well. Levels of pay do of course vary between corporations.

It is often easy to find a job in the IT sector when you are already working in the industry. This is due to people becoming more and more familiar with people in the industry.

Working in IT gives you personal freedom that other industries do not. IT workers tend to work flexi time and although some of the hours can be unsociable often the benefits of not having to work a rigid 9-5 make up for this.

Being an IT industry professional means you will be looked upon as being a problem solver. IT can leave people feeling anxious and irritated, when you are able to solve the problem then it can feel quite rewarding.

IT professionals can often arrange their own schedule and are usually encouraged to attend training events and conferences in order to stay on the ball. Some of these conferences will take place in major cities and be full of freebies and other perks.

Sometimes working in IT means facing unusual challenges, rarely are jobs in IT monotonous.
