Getting Your Own Chauffeur Service

By Bert Donny Vang

Professional drivers and vehicles for hire make good business. There are quite a number of people who cannot or simply do not want to drive owing to difference circumstances, yet need to be driven somewhere. These are then some tips that might be of assistance to you in the future, should you ever require a hired driver for yourself.

First, know that the fees are actually pretty affordable now. It used to be pretty prohibitive before, admittedly. Scads of wealth are no longer a requirement for getting chauffeured around.

Back then, the chauffeur would have a lot more on his plate than actually driving. It was in the scope of their duties to wash and tune the vehicle involved. That was to be expected given that auto technology was yet fresh and problems with production models were not uncommon.

Note that there are far more choices for cars today from driving services. So many end up hiring limos that others get the wrong idea that all chauffeuring services provide only limos. Why, even classic horse gigs can be rented at most of these companies.

You can also engage their services full-time if you need it. This usually relies on you having an auto for the chauffeur to drive. It is hard to beat this for convenience, even with its higher costs.

Strict training and a proper legal permit to serve as a chauffeur should be part of your chauffeur's portfolio. You want to make sure that your driver has documents verifying his training and permit. Seek out people with the right documents to avoid putting yourself in harm's way.

It is often said that your vehicle is an extension of your home. Most people see their automobiles as an integral portion of their days. You would hardly let someone you do not trust into something that is such a part of your life.

Limousine companies regularly conduct trainings for their chauffeurs to prepare them not only as excellent drivers but also as very keen individuals. They should be mindful of the weather, road conditions, safety and security, and as they drive and keep their eyes on the road. Navigational skills are expected as well.

The ideal driver has no DUI or similar cases on his track record. The chauffeur's record should be spotless. Most limousine companies make sure the people they hire have police clearance and other safety certificates.

You have to expect a driver who is dressed appropriately for the occasion, naturally. It is typical for limousine drivers to be dressed in black tuxedo or dark suit, much like what are shown in the movies; some wear black gloves and a tiny black hat as well. Just because you are only getting a chauffeur driven airport transfer does not mean you should expect a driver to be scruffier than those of others, after all.
